Star Wars Dog Costumes

Star Wars costumes have been a favorite for many years; almost as long as Star Wars has been around. It’s only natural that we would want our dogs to dress up like our favorite Star Wars characters too!  There aren’t all that many Star Wars dog costumes out there but there are a few.

The Yoda Dog Costume is the favorite of the three Star Wars costumes for dogs that I found. And no wonder. It really is adorable. Some dogs already tend to look like Yoda (think of pugs) so dressing them like Yoda isn’t much of a stretch. Here’s my pick for the Yoda dog costume:

Star Wars Yoda Dog Costume

This costume comes in sizes Small. Medium, Large, and X-Large.

The Princess Leia Dog Costume is my second choice. Maybe because she’s a princess and  you know how we girls love our princesses!  And Princess Leia was one of the feistiest  of them all. Perfect costume for a feisty girl pup. This Princess Leia dog costume comes in sizes Small, Medium, Large and X-Large.

The Darth Vader Dog Costume is a favorite with most guys. Who could forget that menacing black giant and scary breathing thing he did. He was bad but he was cool too. If your dog is more like a little Darth Vader, we got a costume for you. It also comes in sizes Small, Medium, Large and X-Large.

I love these costumes but I wish I could have found Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca dog costumes too.

Although Star Wars started in a galaxy far, far away, the history of Star Wars started in this galaxy and was conceived of by George Lucas in 1975.  I would love to get inside this guy’s head. His imagination is literally out of this world! A lot of his characters are humanoid but many Star Wars species were so strange looking. I would love to visit the galaxy that houses so many interesting lifeforms and where space travel is quite common.

The most fascinating thing I find in the Star Wars plots is the Force. Remember the classic saying, “May the Force be with you”? The Force was a form of energy that could be used for good or evil. Those who had the ability to harness the Force, had to be trained in how to control it. The Force often gave the recipient Super Human mind and body powers. The Jedi are knights, who protect the galaxy. At least the good Jedi do. The Dark Jedi are the bad boys of the Galaxy who try to take it over.

The first three movies, which were actually the last three to be released, features the story of Anakin Skywalker. He is discovered as a young boy by a Jedi knight and is told he is the “Chosen One.” The Jedi feel he will bring balance to the Force but Yoda has doubts. They all should have listened to Yoda. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi train the young Anakin in the ways of the Jedi and how to use the Force.

Queen Padme Amidala is the young  queen of planet Naboo. She has to deal with the attack of her planet and political turmoil in the Galactic Republic.  She falls in love with Anakin and they secretly marry. She loves him dearly but has seen his dark moments. Anakin falls to the dark side and has a battle with his former trainer Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan defeats him and assumes he is dead but Sidious saves him and puts him in the famous black suit to protect him from the wounds he received from his battle with Obi-Wan. While all this is going on, Padme dies while giving birth to twins Leia and Luke which sends Anakin totally over to the dark side. The twins are hidden from him, and raised by separate families, not knowing who their real parents are.

The original triology of movies take place some 19 years later. Anakin, now Darth Vader has been overseeing the building of the Death Star, a humongous space station that will rule the galaxy and be the final ruin of the Rebellion. Princess Leia is captured after she has stolen and hidden the plans for the Death Star in the droid R2-D2. R2-D2 and his droid buddy C-3PO get away and go to the planet called Tatooine where Luke Skywalker buys the droids and sees the holographic message from Princess Leia. In the message, Leia asks for help from Obi-Wan. Luke and the droids find Obi-Wan who is now living as Ben Kenobi. Obi-Wan fibs and tells Luke that he knew his father and that he was a great Jedi Knight but was killed by Darth Vader.

Hans Solo and Chewbacca are hired by Luke and Obi-Wan to take them to the rebel base. Obi-Wan starts to teach Luke the Force. He later sacrifices himself in a battle with Darth Vader to allow the others to escape with the plans for the Death Star. Thanks to those plans, the  Rebels destroy the Death Star.

Darth Vader is quite busy. Not only does he continually hunt down rebels, and oversee the completion of the Death Star, he also starts work on yet a second Death Star. Meanwhile Luke finds Yoda and Yoda continues with Luke’s training as a Jedi warrior. But again, his training is interrupted by Darth Vader when Vader captures the group. Vader reveals his true identity to Luke in an effort to turn him to the Dark Side. It doesn’t work though and Luke escapes. He continues training with Yoda and realizes he has unfinished business with his “father” Darth Vader. Luke also finds out that Leia, who he had a crush on, is really his twin sister.

The rebels attack the second Death Star and Luke confronts Vader. They battle and Luke convinces his father that he is not all evil, and that there is still some good in him. Darth Vader kills the evil Emporer and then dies himself. The second Death Star is destroyed and peace is restored to the galaxy.

There is supposedly another triology  out there but not much is known about when and if it will be made into movies. Hopefully for us Star Wars fans and our Star War dogs, it will be soon. May the Force be with you !

The Yoda Halloween dog costume is perfect! We have a Silky Terrier that would look awesome wearing that outfit. Even better is that he is OLD (around 12 years) and would growl if you tried to take it off (once you got it on, that is).

I bet your silky would look adorable in a yoda costume. I think that’s hilarious that he would growl if you try to take it off.

I’ll be the first to say that I’m not real big on dressing up my dog.fact that he is almost 80 pounds makes the prospect of that difficult since most costumes would not fit him. However, after seeing the Star Wars costumes I must admit that I’m willing to give it a second thought.

I enjoyed using Keywordluv on my costume sites because it rewards commenters for their efforts to get back links to their sites. Another benefit, it stimulate conversation on sites like this one. The bad thing is you have to deal spam, which I spend to much time deleting. I wish we had a world of people that wanted to help others instead of all those that spend their time spamming.
