Who doesn’t love dogs wearing costumes? Just look at the Punk Dog Costume, for instance!
For some dog owners it is easy to become completely fixated on obedience training, proper food and nutrition, puppy playdates and housetraining. They soon forget why it was that they got a dog in the first place.
Dog ownership should be fun! And for some, the fun of puppy parenthood has to include a little bit of dress-up. From furry pug
punks, to Pampered Puppy Princesses, small dog costumes are quickly becoming the biggest trend in canine accessories.
Though costumes for dogs may seem ridiculous to some, others swear that their tiny companions love to wear their stylish garb, radical wigs and pretty paw-wear. With celebrities like Paris Hilton toting their own fashionable furballs around Hollywood, it should not be a surprise that dog costumes are taking the pet goods industry by storm both online and off.
Some of the most popular choices include a Cave Dog Costume and even a fifty’s beehive inspired Bouffant Dog, all developed and designed by Zelda Costumes and Accessories.
Some dogs seem to love to strut their stuff and get into the fun spirit of Halloween by dressing up.
Other dogs don’t like being dressed up or are even frightened by the experience.
The best thing to do is to dress your dog in her costume several times, the week before Halloween so she can get used to the feel of it.
If these costumes seem a bit too involved, there are also simpler poochie products such as Decorative Christmas Collars.
Although intended for Christmas, this collar looks more like a court jester’s collar so your dog can be a court jester for Halloween! Then he can wear it agin a few months later at Christmas time.
Be sure to order early so that you both can get the costume that is perfect for you.
If you are not sure you want to take your small dog out trick or treating, you may want to throw a small dog costume party! Invite all your dog’s friends from his doggy daycare, his dog friends in the neighborhood, and your own friends who own small dogs. You can make up little dog treat bags for the dog guests and of course have some fun finger food out for their human friends.
A really cute idea is to find a costume for yourself to match your dog’s costume. Why not have a Halloween costume party where your guests bring their dogs and dress up in matching or coordinating costumes? How much fun that would be!
Small dog costumes are a good reminder that life, and dog ownership should not be taken too seriously. Dogs are great companions, they enjoy being part of their owner’s lives and dressing up in a costume or two is just one more way to spend quality time with their people.
Not to mention, when asked, many dog owners would happily agree that their dogs think they’re human! So why not have some fun and dress them that way to?

Costumes for our pet dogs are just extremely adorable. With Halloween coming just around the corner, I think I have just arrived at the right site to brain storm some interesting ideas for my little ball of fur. I hope he likes it as much as me though!

These are some of my favorite costumes because they look so cute on little tiny dogs! I love the ones on this little bull dog! But, owners do need to be careful with costumes so the dogs don’t chew or choke on them.

Is there anyone who specialises in costumes for big dogs? I have friends who have a bernese mountain dog, who is more like a horse than a dog!

Not that I know of Dave but it’s a market wide open. I did research in the past on clothes for the really big guys, & there really isn’t anything out there for them.
